On July 7th 1983 Asher Gros, 18 years old, stood in a square in Hebron waiting for transportation. The car went by and Asher missed it. Suddenly three terrorists ran towards him, stabbed Asher and escaped.
Asher ran towards a near by Jewish neighborhood but collapsed. An arab who thought Asher was an arab took him to a near by hospital. The doctors refused to treat him when they saw his “Tzitzit”.

Asher died from his wounds.

The Square where Asher was stabbed was named after him "Gros Square".
