On December 8th, 1983, Dani Katz, 14 years old, who lived in Denya neighborhood in Haifa, went to visit a friend, Dani disappeared on the way. After three days his body was found in a cave near the Arab village Sachnin,Dani was strangled and sexually attacked.
The killing of Dani Katz raised a lot of attention in Israel, mainly because of the violent nature of the murder, and also because of the trial of the five terrorists convicted in the murder. The five got a new trial in which they were convicted again.
