On March 10th, 1985, many soldiers returned from their weekend holiday on their way to the base near Nabatia in Lebanon. The soldiers were going in a Safari truck escorted by a couple of Jeeps. Near the Israeli Lebanese border a car bomb driven by a suicide murderer terrorist exploded near the truck killing 12 soldiers and wounding 20.
The memorial was erected in the city of Metula close to the Israeli Lebanese border.
