On Wednesday afternoon, October 26, 2005, a suicide bomber blew himself up in the Hadera market. The attack occurred near a falafel stand at the intersection of Herbert Samuel and Rothschild streets. Dozens were injured in the attack, and five were killed on the spot.

Another injured person, Jenia Polis, died of her wounds two weeks later.

In October 2010, on the fifth anniversary of the attack, a memorial was erected in their memory in the renovated Hadera market.

Larisa Grishchenko, 39, who had come to shop there, was critically injured in the attack. She was taken to hospital, but did not regain consciousness and died at Shoham Hospital in Pardes Hanna about four years later, in 2009, her name was included in the new memorial.
