On Spring 1921 Yosef Haim Brener came back from the Galilee to Tel Aviv and lived in the house of the Yitzkar family. The house was a known board house to writers-workers in the beginning of their writing life.

On May 2nd, 1921, the second day of the riots in Jaffa, several of the residents fo the Yitzkar house were killed when trying to got from Jaffa to Tel Aviv, Yosef Haim Brener, 39 years old was amongst the killed.

In his memory several schools were built in Israel, both elementary schools and high schools. Streets were named after him and a new Kibbutz was established, Givaat Brener.
