On Thursday, November 1st, 1956, during the Sinai war, information arrived about a few terrorists crossing the border from Egypt to Israel. A small group from Kibbutz Erez organized to chase the terrorists. Two of the group were employees of the water company and four were soldiers.
When they went off the road east of the Kibbutz the Jeep drove over a land mine and all six passengers were killed.
