On Monday, January 25, 2016, heavy snow was expected in the Jerusalem area, and in order not to get stuck on the road, Shlomit left work early.

While she was walking on the main road in the settlement of Beit Horon (where her grandparents live), two terrorists entered through a gap in the fence and attacked her with knife stabs. They then left her in her blood and headed towards the nearby supermarket, where they attacked and wounded another woman.

Shlomit, almost 24, who was critically injured, was evacuated to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem. After a ten-hour fight for her life, she died the next morning.

"To commemorate her memory, we are working to establish a Bnei Akiva branch in the moshav where she grew up - Shadmot Meholah," wrote Shlomit's parents, "In addition, we have taken it upon ourselves to fulfill her dream of 'giving the book back to the people'. We are working to make her final project a reality: social street libraries in the centers of various cities."
One such street library can be seen here.

To this day, Shlomit has been commemorated in a memorial corner in the community library, in addition to a library corner in the kindergarten.

In the desert landscape of the valley, a Shlomit lookout was established facing the Jordan Mountains, a project in collaboration with the Shadmot Meholah Community Council and Mechinat Mesbah, from which one can observe the entire environment. And in the barn where she worked on the farm, a Shlomit Sukkah was erected.
