On Thursday, February 8th, 1968 a wagon towed by a tractor went on a land mine that terrorists from Jordan planted at the Banana fields of Kibbutz Ashdot Yaakov. The explosion occurred only 300 meters south east of the Kibbutz.

 

The Wagon was destroyed and the passengers injured.
Two were wounded and four killed.

Members of the Kibbutz, Haim Muzri, 37 years old, Hanan Lerner, 22 years old, and Yehuda Halak, 18 years old was badly wounded and died two days later. A volunteer from abroad, Joseph Gerhard Keller, 25 years old was also killed.
