On Friday morning, April 7, 2023, in the midst of Ramadan and Passover, at approximately 10:55 AM, Palestinian terrorists opened fire from a vehicle at an Israeli vehicle in the Hamra Junction area in the Jordan Valley. The Israeli vehicle was carrying Lucy (Leah) Dee, 48, and her two daughters, Maya and Rina Dee, 20 and 15, born in England, who immigrated to Israel and lived in Efrat. The terrorists first fired at the vehicle from the opposite lane. They then made a U-turn and, after diverting the vehicle off the road, confirmed the killing of the passengers by firing bursts of fire from a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Security forces that received a report of the incident initially believed it was a traffic accident, but upon arrival at the scene, gunshot wounds were discovered on the vehicle. As a result of the shooting, both girls were pronounced dead. The mother was seriously injured and was airlifted to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead three days later. Lucy's organs were donated to five people after her death.

Daughters Maya and Rina were laid to rest in the cemetery in Kfar Etzion on Sunday, April 9, and two days later, on April 11, Lucy their mother was buried next to them.
