On Sunday, September 7, 2018 (September 16, 2018), before noon, Ari went shopping in the Rami Levy complex in Gush Etzion. He was stabbed in the back by a 16-year-old Arab terrorist. Despite his injury, he chased the terrorist, shot him, and wounded him, thus saving the lives of other people. Only after seeing that the terrorist had been neutralized did Ari collapse and be taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where he was pronounced dead.
Despite his mortal wound, and with his last remaining strength, Ari prevented the terrorist from continuing his killing spree.
Ari, a lover of the Land of Israel and a fighter for spreading the truth about the right of the Jewish people to their land, loved the Oz and Gaon Reserve very much, bringing groups there and distributing all kinds of goodies to the soldiers there.
It was only natural that the observatory in his memory would be built there. We thank the Tzrna Moskowitz Foundation for making the construction of the observatory overlooking the Bracha Valley, to the wonderful views on Route 60 between Jerusalem and Hebron possible.
On November 8, 2018, a ceremony was held at the Oz and Gaon Reserve, near the Gush Etzion intersection, to inaugurate an observation point built in memory of Ari. The observatory includes a wide wooden floor, a bench and a large shed, overlooking the murder area and the large valley spread between Karmei Tzur towards Hebron and Neve Daniel towards Jerusalem.
