On August 11th, 1970, 25-year-old Binyamin Kfir the farm manager in Ramat Magshimim on the Golan Heights, went out to plan the next day’s work in the sunflower fields. Together with him were another member of the Kibbutz and three girls from Jerusalem.

The Jeep they drove in went over a powerful land mine and all five were killed.

The three girls from Jerusalem are commemorated in the name of the new community built at the site, "Avnei Eitan".
