On Thursday March 13th 1997 a bus with 50 students and teachers from the “first” school in Beit Shemesh entered the “peace Island” in Naharyim near the border with Jordan.

When they were on their way to see the view a Jordanian soldier opened fire killing seven students.

Orna Shimoni from the near by Ashdot Yaakov Kibbutz who lost her son Eyal In Lebanon when he was a soldier took upon herself to create a commemoration site to the seven, she built and maintains the site on daily basis.
