On December 2nd, 1938, four “Haganah” members went to guard a hill near the Gilboa mountain, at the south side of Nir David fields.
On their way they fell into an ambush of the Abu Dora Arab gang, three were killed on spot. Yehuda Papo, 25 years old, Max Heller, 25 and Binyamin Maletzki, 24.
Their friends named the hill they went to, after the three.
The sign was placed on the guard tower that was built there.
In YouTube you can see a first hand testimony by Shlomo Frank who was in that group and was in that event that day. Click here for the clip (In Hebrew).
Thanks to Yosef Atar and Amir Naftalis for the photos.
