On Friday July 26th 1996 the Monk family went on their way to their home in Mevo Beitar. Near Moshav Gefen terrorists in overtaking vehicle opened fire killing Uri Monk and his son’s wife Rachel, Uri’s son Zev was badly wounded. Zeev died two days later.


His organs were donated and saved the life of five people.

The Monk playground was built in their memory in the year 2003 by the Mevo Beitar people. The playground was designed by Eli Isaschar.
The playground has three entrances and paths, one for each victim. Each path is divided to sections according to the age, number of years of the victims.
The three paths meet in the memorial place where a memorial stone is located.
