On March 6th,2008, A terrorist from East Jerusalem, holding an Israeli ID (Blue ID) entered the “Merkaz Harav” Yeshiva in Jerusalem shooting at random at the students and teachers of the Yeshiva. At that time a party was taking place in the Yeshiva for the upcoming Purim holiday. The students and teachers were running to find cover. People who pass outside the Yeshiva and heard the shooting entered and killed the terrorist stopping his killing rampage.
In the shooting eight young students were murdered. Segev Peniel Avichail, 15 years old was killed that night. Segev was saved a few years before when he was wounded in a drive by shooting near Hebron.
In Segev’s memory a garden and a memorial were erected in Neve Daniel in Gush Etzion.
