On February 23, 1999, an IDF force was ambushed in Lebanon by Hezbollah, in the first fire strike two officers were killed. Lieutenant David Granit took the command and started to evacuate the wounded and killed. In the last fires shot David was hit and killed.
For his bravery he was awarded a medal of honor.
