On Shabbat 22nd of Tishrei, Simchat Torah 5774, October 7, 2023, at 6:30 in the morning, the Hamas terrorist organization began firing missiles and rockets from the Gaza Strip into southern and central Israel. In the following hours, thousands of terrorists penetrated the border fence from the Gaza Strip to the State of Israel and began a murderous attack on the settlements surrounding Gaza - kibbutzim and moshavim, on the nearby towns of Sderot, Ofakim and Netivot, on the nature reserve near kibbutzim Reim and Nirim, on IDF bases and on passers-by on the roads in the area.

The terrorists destroyed houses in many settlements, murdered about 800 civilians in their homes, in their cars and while they were partying, and kidnapped hundreds of Israelis and foreign workers to the Gaza Strip. It later turned out that they had also kidnapped bodies, and some of the kidnapped were murdered while they were in the Gaza Strip.

More than 350 soldiers and policemen were killed that day, before local alert units and IDF forces managed to take control of the area.

That morning, war began.

That day, terrorists infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz, murdered about forty kibbutz members and kidnapped dozens to Gaza. Among the murdered were Shiri Bivas' parents, Margit and Yossi Silverman.

Shiri and her two young children, Ariel and Kfir, were kidnapped from their home to the Gaza Strip by terrorists, minutes after the father of the family, Yarden, was kidnapped by terrorists from the kibbutz yard.

Shiri and the two children were held together for 50 days, they were murdered by the terrorists who held them.

Something from Benny Gantz's Facebook:

Sharing with you a photo I received, taken in the heart of Gaza.

"Lioness Outpost", named after the late Shiri Bivas.

In the heart of Gaza, where she was kidnapped and brutally murdered along with Ariel and Kfir by human monsters, stands today a small outpost that symbolizes many things.

Our heroic fighters who are there, and we as a people, do not forget for a moment what and for whom we are fighting. In memory of all those murdered, for the sake of the kidnapped who are still there and must be returned home, and for ensuring Israel's security.

Commemorized:
