Biet Sokolov

On February 28th 1999 lieutenant General Erez Gerstein went for a condolences visit in a Lebanese village in south Lebanon. With him went his driver Ahmed Abu Rish and his radio operator Omer Elkabetz and Kol Israel radio reporter Ilan Roea.
A side bomb exploded near their car killing all four.

Ilan Roea was 32 years old.

Ilan is commemorated in Beit Sokolov the newspapers people house, his commemoration is unique in the Israeli view since it has a sculpture of his head and also in the fact that it has an audio description of Ilan and his life.
