On 30.3.1939, Max Alexandrowitz, 25 years old, who served in the British police in Eretz Israel, while on duty, was shot and killed on Allenby Street in Haifa, and was laid to rest in the cemetery in Haifa.
Max was shot by an Arab sniper, who had previously serially murdered twelve Jewish policemen until he was caught and executed by hanging.
Max enlisted after the outbreak of the bloody events of 1936. He enlisted in the police as a police officer and reached the rank of corporal.
Four months after his death, his daughter, actress Gila Almagor, was born.
